Aadhaar Services:

The UIDAI has made available various services relating to Aadhaar processes and features to make the Aadhaar process more transparent and streamline. Here is a short overview of each of these:

Verify Aadhaar Number:

Applicants can verify if their Aadhaar card is active or has been deactivated as follows:

  • Visit the website of UIDAI, and press on the line ‘My Aadhaar.’
  • Click on the tab ‘Verify Aadhaar Number,’ and enter your Aadhaar number along with the CAPTCHA password.
  • Your present Aadhaar Card status will show on the computer.

Verify mobile number or email registered with Aadhaar:

It is advisable to provide an email address and mobile number when applying for an Aadhaar card as it makes it easier to get updates on services. As a candidate, you may also obtain alerts remotely about new functionality or details relevant to your Aadhaar. Follow the measures mentioned here to search your Aadhaar Mobile Number or Email Address.

Retrieve your Aadhaar number:

UIDAI has streamlined the recovery method whether you have forgotten or damaged your Aadhaar Passport. You may electronically download your Aadhaar Card, VID or EID by following the steps described below.

It’s important to note that retrieving Aadhaar information requires you to have a mobile number registered.

Check the status of Aadhaar linking:

To take benefit of most government subsidies and programs, applicants are expected to attach their Aadhaar card to their bank account to disburse the subsidy. You can check the current state of the process of linking as shown below:

Navigate to the ‘My Aadhaar’ page on the official UIDAI website, and pick the ‘Aadhaar Facilities’ category.

Enter your identification code and Aadhaar / VID number.

An OTP is generated and sent to your registered mobile number, and the current link status is shown on the screen.

Generate Virtual ID (VID):

The VID was initiated by UIDAI to ensure data protection and to safeguard the information provided under Aadhaar. This offers restricted access through KYC (Know Your Customer) to vendors/merchants searching for Aadhaar details for different services.

Lock/Unlock your biometrics:

Your Aadhaar card contains both demographic as well as biometric data, which is used to authenticate your identity when availing various services. When exchanging the Aadhaar details with a vendor/merchant for authentication, there is a risk of misuse. The UIDAI enables Aadhaar cardholders to lock access to their biometric details to preserve the confidentiality of that data. That can be unlocked at the discretion of the cardholder.

Check authentication history:

The names of the Authorized User Agencies (AUA) accessing this information are entered into the Aadhaar network each time you use your Aadhaar card for some reason. You may search the background of your authentication which lists the AUA and the details it has accessed. This process allows you to check who’s accessed your Aadhaar data. This feature is particularly helpful when it comes to managing your information security.
